A deep sense of dedication and a spirit of partnership characterize Erik Lassila's investment activities. With a technology background, six years in technical management, and eight years in venture capital, Erik offers experience and a wealth of resources to the management teams he works with.

Erik's investment focus is on technologies for the enterprise, including applications and infrastructure software, systems, and semiconductors. He currently serves on the board of directors for Aceva Technologies, CastBridge, Exemplary Software, and Syndera.

Erik manages Clearstone's northern California office. He began his venture career as an Associate with Mayfield Fund, where he focused on software and Internet investing. Over the last eight years, Erik has served on the board or has been actively involved with companies including: CityAuction (acquired by InterActive Corp.), eGain Communications (EGAN), Eve.com (acquired by idealab), Financial Engines, Interwoven (IWOV), Neomar (acquired by Good Technology), and NetBoost (acquired by Intel).

Prior to his venture career, Erik held management positions with Texas Instruments and Motorola, developing and marketing semiconductor and software products. His roles included leading a European product launch as a software Product Manager, and sales management responsibility for $20 million of annual revenue.

Erik is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including Enterprise Outlook, Venture Capital Forum, and CIO Magazine's Annual CIO Meeting, and has been a guest lecturer at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering with high honors from Iowa State University and an MBA from Stanford University.
