The only WLAN infrastructure providing over-the-air Quality of Service
for toll quality voice, Meru's Wireless LAN System garners top award for
its innovation, leadership, and vision
Meru Networks, the leader in voice over wireless LAN infrastructure technology,
today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC)'s INTERNET
TELEPHONY magazine, named the Meru Wireless LAN System as a Product of
the Year winner for 2003.
Announced in the January 2004 edition of INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine,
the Product of the Year designation was given to a select few companies
who display vision, leadership, attention to detail, and have demonstrated
a commitment to quality and the further development of the IP telephony
industry through their contributions.
Meru's Wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure products, using its patent
pending Air Traffic Control technology, create the industry's only completely
standards compliant Wi-Fi network capable of delivering toll quality voice
calls over an enterprise WLAN network. This capability allows an enterprise
to deploy a single converged wireless network for voice and data, reducing
the cost of deployment and administration as well as equipment costs.
In December 2003, Meru released independent test results measuring Mean
Opinion Scores (MOS), a test normally reserved for voice equipment being
evaluated for telecommunications companies. These tests validate Meru's
claims that it had the industry's first enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure
capable of delivering high capacity toll quality voice (30+ voice calls
on a single access point) that peacefully coexists with data on the same
"Meru is focused on pushing the envelope and delivering evolutionary
Quality of Service for wireless LAN solutions that provide the best overall
experience for enterprise users," explained Ujjal Kohli, CEO of Meru
Networks. "The Meru WLAN System enjoys a strong reputation for its
ability to deliver toll quality voice as well as high performance data
on a single, converged network. The INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the
Year award validates our efforts to provide enterprises with wireless
infrastructure products that provide higher ROI and best meet their current
and future voice and data needs."
"The Meru Wireless LAN System is clearly deserving of leadership
status in the voice over Wireless LAN sector of the IP telephony industry.
We're proud to award the Product of the Year Award for 2003 to them and
recognize their efforts in furthering the IP telephony industry,"
said Rich Tehrani, president of TMC and group publisher of INTERNET TELEPHONY.
